How to use Block Editor in WordPress

You can create beautiful pages on your WordPress website! Block Editor is an excellent tool that WordPress has created and here is a step by step guide to get you started.

How to create a page in WORDPRESS using Block Editor 

  • Log into your WordPress account
  • Go to the Dashboard on the left hand side
  • Select Pages 
  • Select Add New Page
  • Start with a blank page or select a template from your theme
  • Add page title
  • There is an auto save but click Save Draft after some work to make sure it is saved
  • There is an undo and redo button at the top left 🙂 
  • You can preview your work as desktop, tablet or phone view when you click on preview
  • Click the page and click on the + sign or click the blue + on the top left to add a block

NOTE: If you want to have columns or cover image, start with that now

Block editor is quick and easy to search and select what you need for your website page. Blocks is where you add:

  • Text
  • Lists
  • Cover Image or text 
  • Images
  • Video
  • Quotes
  • Social Media Feeds
  • Buttons 
  • Headings
  • Separators
  • Collages 
  • Code
  • Latest Posts Slider 
  • Website Pages List
  • Contact Us Form
  • Polls
  • And much more! 

Note: If you want to have social media, latest posts, maps, etc. on every page, you will want to add that in Widgets

Block editor is ready to go with integrations with common online digital marketing platforms. Search in Blocks:

  • Mail chimp
  • Spotify
  • Social Media Platforms
  • Amazon
  • Etc.

To customize a block:

  • Click on the block you want to customize
  • On the right hand side of the page, you will see Page and Block
  • You will be in the Block section to edit the block
  • Here you can make the changes to the block to fit your brand identity


Once your work is done and approved, Hit Publish!
